Ch.2 Forces Collide

The beast let out a menacing roar at Sure Shot, sounding like a cross between a pterodactyl and a tiger.

"Looks like a Caliyar Crush Beast...." the raven haired beauty told herself, "Shouldn't be too hard, but first I'm gonna have to move it away from those kids...."

Sure Shot raised her blaster and pointed towards the sky. Suddenly, her body was surrounded by a powerful green wind as an equally green magic circle took shape at her feet. Her trusted blaster Dai Lagen changed its parts from red to green as is absorbed the magical from the world around it and even the girl wielding it. Just before, the sky turned dark with thick black clouds and erupted with a roar-like BOOM!! The Crush Beast looked up just as a spiraling twister reached down and sucked it up faster than the best vacuum a maid could afford. The crowd watched as the beast was spun around wildly and dropped onto the opposite side of a thick roof Sure Shot was standing on. It laid on its back, tongue sticking out of its mouth.

"Its a shame though, this is becoming more of a chore than a fight..." Sure shot said to herself as she moved towards her fallen enemy.

With lightning fast reflexes, Sure Shot back flipped out of the way of a swiping claw. She landed gracefully on her feet and retaliated. She tracked the brownish blur as her trigger finger moved rapidly, sending off volley after volley of light blue blasts. The beast roared as it struck its target in the shoulder. Sure Shot rolled to the side as touched it gently. Just a flesh wound, a bandage and a little magic will fix it right up. Right now, she needed to focus.   

The battle on the rooftop continued, Sure Shot's natural agility serving her well so far.  The Crushbeast wasn't about the give up though, it opened it's mouth and fired a blast of it's own. The searing hot flames singed Sure Shot's outfit as she avoided them, firing back whenever she got the chance. Dai Lagen's component's changed blue as she fired an orb of icy water into the beast's maw. It coughed and sputtered as Julia landed a good distance away.

“Phew…..!” Sure Shot panted hard, “…. I hope those new yoga classes I’ve been taking pay off soon. All this crime fighting lately is making me sore….” She raised her blaster again as the Crush Beast got its second wind. It shuddered as its hair stood on end like a giant brown porcupine. The heroine’s eyes widened as a barrage of hair thin needles flew at her like horizontal rain.

Sure Shot‘s body glowed with a pure white light. “Heaven’s Barrier!!!” Just in the nick of time, a glowing hemisphere of clear colored sections that resembled a turtle shell met with a Crush Beast’s assault. The needles broke against the shield as she focused her energy towards the front. As soon as the beast figured its attack had no effect, all it had left was another direct assault. It dug its claws into the rooftop like a bull at a Spanish coliseum, then stampeded towards Sure Shot with all its might.    

Sure Shot dropped her shield as she figured it would be best to stop this before the wear and tear on the rooftop gets to great. "Sorry, but this is the end for you." Sure shot said as she held Dai Lagen firm with both hands. Dai Lagen glowed into life as Sure Shot poured as much magical energy as she could. The beast gave a might leap, and at the last moment, Sure Shot let loose a blinding white blast that envelops the Crush Beast and streaks out into the stratosphere. Paparazzi camera's flashing, Sure Shot gave a gentle wave before an emerald gust surrounded her as well and she vanished into thin air.

Sure Shot reappeared out of her emerald vortex inside of a simple living room in a white apartment building that she dubbed home. Most people tend to know her by her true name, Julia Sandera. Behind door 56-B Julia eats, sleeps, and practices spells behind thick walls and closed drapes, then eats some more. The furniture was simple, with sturdy dark wood and greens of many shades. Julia also added a touch of purple here and there, and was happy with how it turned out.

Julia smiled as she stretched her arms high. "I'm thinking a nice shower will do us both some good. What do you think?" she asked the little roomie inside her brown skinned stomach. Yeah, she talks to her kid. Every soon to be mother does it at least once. Julia giggled and hopped off to the bathroom, ready to dive into a warm oasis that will soothe her aching muscles. Two whole hours later, she exited the bathroom in a dark blue tank top with the words "Big Curves Ahead" inside a yellow street sign and pair of gray shorts. Searching the cupboards, she pulled out a jar of a clear gel and applied it on her shoulder.    

It was at that moment, the wind began to howl and swirl into an ominous rainbow vortex. Julia had seen these before. As matter of fact, she used a similar method of travel to come to this world. It is also the method of choice for many of the other magical creatures she came across. She had put up a barrier to limit warping into her frequency alone, but there is that one-in-a-million chance that another portal can enter and this was it. Reaching out to the side and tossing the small jar aside, Dai Lagen leapt up from the counter and connected with her awaiting palm. She pointed it at the vortex and charged up. Any threat that was planning on getting her here was going to be in for a big surprise. The vortex popped and let out a huge blinding flash. When the wind and light died down Julia didn't see a magical beast or a magical fiend, more like a magical....

"...cat?"
